ALC Gives Back: The Blessing Bag Brigade

ALC Giving Back

Students participated in a state wide project called the Blessing Bag Brigade, donates bags of hygiene items, food, and socks to local homeless shelters and to individuals who are living on the streets of New York City.  The organization collects donated items such as socks, snack foods, small water bottles, lip balm, and travel sized toiletries.  The donated supplies are then given to community organizations or to schools to package into Ziploc bags.

The Blessing Bag Brigade project was brought to ALC by speech and language specialist, Ann Marie Lusquinos, who participated in a Blessing Bag assembly project with her family at her church.  The project is so wonderful because it provides our students with an opportunity to work on valuable life skills while they are giving back to the community.  ALC hopes to host many more Blessing Bag Brigade events.  Staff are currently contributing needed items to help stock our next event and we hope to be able to extend our collection efforts into the community.  For more information on the Blessing Bag Brigade project, visit their website at BlessingbagbrigadeNJ.org.

If you would like  to help, we are collecting the following items:white cotton socks (unisex);snack foods, including soft breakfast bars;tooth brushes;travel size toothpaste;travel size lotion;travel size shampoo;travel size body wash/soap;travel size wet wipes;lip balm;disposable razors and small water bottles.
